Founded in 2008 by Reuben Vegt and Steven Bosma, Bowline Construction began with a clear mission: to raise the standard of professionalism in construction and give clients the rare peace of mind that comes from knowing their project will finish on time, on budget, and exactly as promised.

Too many homeowners were being left in the dark—uncertain about pricing, timelines, and the quality of the work. We recognized the gap and stepped in to offer something better: a professional, honest, and organized construction experience that respects your time, budget, and home.

We’re not the “pointy-shoes” type of contractor. We’re boots-on-the-ground, sleeves-rolled-up builders who take pride in our craft and treat every build like it’s our own. What We Do

We’re a full-service design-build renovation and new construction contractor based in Langley, BC. With over 20 years of experience and more than 250 renovations and 25 custom homes completed, we combine the hands-on craftsmanship of a small, approachable crew with the advanced systems and organization you’d expect from a high-end builder.

We proudly serve Langley, Surrey, White Rock, Abbotsford, Maple Ridge, and Vancouver. Our portfolio includes whole home renovations, custom additions, secondary suites, multigenerational home designs, barns, outbuildings, and tenant improvements for both residential and commercial clients. Many of these projects help families live more comfortably together.

We’re the best fit for larger-scale renovations, additions, and custom builds where we can bring our full process, team, and attention to detail from start to finish. These projects often involve multiple rooms or significant structural changes, allowing us to deliver the quality, predictability, and smooth experience our clients count on. From time to time, we also take on specialty work—like timber frame decks—when they’re built start-to-finish by our in-house crew.

The name “Bowline” comes from the bowline knot—often called the “king of knots” for its strength, simplicity, and reliability. It’s easy to tie, holds firm under pressure, and can be released without a struggle. For us, it’s more than a name—it’s a symbol of the tight ship we run and the kind of work we stand behind. We’re a crew of 11, including Red Seal carpenters, apprentices, and trusted labourers—many of whom have been working together for years.

And in 2025, we were a finalist in the Best Single-Family Renovation category, specifically for our “Ruins to Riches” project, in the Best Renovation – $750,000 – $1,500,000 range.

Beyond awards, some of our proudest moments come from complex builds—like lifting a single-storey rancher and transforming it into a two-storey home, or moving an entire house to create more backyard space before adding new additions. These projects take precision, creativity, and a crew that thrives on a challenge.

For new builds, we offer a 2-5-10 home warranty through Pacific Home Warranty, meeting all provincial requirements. For renovations, we stand behind our work with the same level of pride and accountability—whether it’s required or not.

How do I know my project will stay on budget?

We use a fixed-price contract model, which means the price we agree on is the price you pay—unless you decide to make changes. Everything is documented, tracked, and visible in your online project portal.

What kind of projects do you take on?

We specialize in large-scale renovations and custom homes, with most projects starting at $50,000. We’re a great fit for families looking to expand or upgrade their space—not quick fixes or small bathroom updates.

Can I track progress during construction?

Absolutely. We use Buildertrend™ (formerly CoConstruct™), an online portal where you can see daily progress updates, schedules, trade activity, budget tracking, and more. You’ll always know what’s happening on your job site.

Do you help with design and permits?

Yes. While we don’t have an in-house designer, we coordinate the entire design process with trusted local architects and designers. We also manage permitting and approvals, so you don’t have to stress over the paperwork.

Do you offer project financing?

No, we don’t offer in-house financing or work with financing partners. We believe in transparency from the start, so we encourage clients to have their financing in place before we begin.
